  1. dont get scooter, i personally think scooters almost look clownish. why not just get a 125 or 250cc motorcycle. They got some nice looking ones. look at the 2008 ninja 250R, only $3500 brand new. I think you will enjoy it much more, and can take care of anythign a vespa can.
  2. Vespa's are on the pricey side but very good scooters. I would suggest you look at Kymco's They make scooters up to 500cc that will run circles around a lot of the motorcycles out there. They are not priced to bad very reliable and trendy. You will not get a back ache riding a scooter and you can carry a passenger or books very comfortably .
  3. Do you want a Vespa, or just a motor scooter? Vespa is used as a generic term quite often, but there a lot of other good scooters on the market. Most places you can operate a scooter of 50cc engine displacement or less without a license. I believe that is true in FL. Your DMV's web site will give you the details. As stated in another post, Vespa scooters are high priced, and only the Vespa snobs think they are worth the bucks. KYMCO, SYM, Daelim, Genuine, TGB, Honda, Yamaha, Hyosung all make quality scooters in the 50cc size. There are a ton of 50cc scooters on the markets (ebay and internet) that come from Communist China. Do not buy one of these things unless you are a mechanic! The quality of a few of those Chinese makes are improving in quality, but still are not what you can call dependable unless you are capable of doing on the spot repairs.
  4. Honda's jazz line is nearly identicle to vespas and half the price.
